SHARNEL + DEXTER ... COMING SOON

4.20.2010

If blogs had feelings this blog would be feeling unloved? Lol. Or maybe energized? Anyways, I've been busy with lots of unrelated photo stuff but have tons of posts on the way of sessions that I'm behind in blogging including:

this engagement session...

this just because session...

another engagement session...

this just because session...

& this newlywed shoot...which is technically a repost I know...

Also coming up? This weekend I have a one-one-one mentor session with an awesome wedding/editorial photographer based here in the city that I'm really excited about and will definitely blog about next week. Then, in just over a week I shoot my first wedding. So I'm gearing up for that figuratively & literally.

So posts with photographs coming soon!

JUST BECAUSE: TINA + JOHN

Before I proceed to post images from a few of my most recent shoots (recent as in this past Fall) I want to go ahead and re-post two shoots that were previously on my blog before I revamped it.

The images below are from my very first shoot - a whopping 7 months ago. And while my post processing style has changed, I figure it will be an evolving process, I'm still super proud of how they turned out. It was my first taste of really having people in front of my camera & directing them. Luckily, they are friends and were good sports through it all.

FILM. IT'S NOT DEAD.

I must I must I must find a way to make it to photographer Jonathan Canlas' "Film Is Not Dead Workshop."

I already know the San Diego date is out of the question for me but Park City....there's still hope. I've heard/read nothing but awesome-ness about the workshop & since shooting film is something I've been giving serious consideration to (I've actually recently started teaching myself) I feel like I could learn/gain so much by attending.  I'm sure you'll read more film talk around here but now it's time to put my thinking cap on...

NEWBORN: NATALIE + JEFF

Back in November I had the pleasure of photographing my friend Natalie and her husband Jeff's new born baby girl. Natalie is one of the few friends I've kept in touch with since college and it was so nice to hang out with her growing family for the day. They literally could not keep their eyes off the baby - it was so adorable! Here are some of my favourite images from the day.

ACTION! TAKE TWO

There was a bit of a blog break here as I attempted to straighten out some things in my personal life & to also really think about where it is I want to go with my photography, what I want to do with it & what I want it to be. It all sounds rather deep, doesn't it? Lol. Well, I'm happy to report that I think I have a much better idea now & am excited by the possibilities. Now just to be fearless, take risks & (slowly) execute 'em...

With these somewhat new revelations & decisions I also did a bit of a blog overhaul - making it really clean and fresh to better reflect the direction I want to go in & showcase my images. I also made the decision to remove some of my old posts...actually all of my old posts - though I will be re-blogging two shoots I was particularly proud of. There weren't too many other posts (so don't worry, you're not missing much) but I felt that I wanted this to be kind of like a new start...

I also have a few newer shoots to blog from this past Fall & the below image is one of my favourites from a shoot I did for my friend with her husband & newborn baby girl back in November. It captured a totally real moment if ever there was one! And while it's not the typical "happy baby smiley" photo - I love it precisely for that reason. I love the wrinkly baby face. I love the expression on my friend Natalie's face - kinda "uh oh..." I love that we did it in her home; which totally makes sense for new parents I think.

I've decided I'm not a huge fan of "sneak peeks" or "teaser posts" so I promise I won't post "one photo sneak peeks" too often but...I'll blog a few more of my favourites from this shoot later this week...

With Spring on the horizon I'm excited about the possibilities & this kind of new fresh start. I'm feeling re-inspired, re-energized & more focused on what I want for Sahara Blue.
